The long and short of it is that Spurs wanted Champions League football but Spurs bought Under-21 players for Champions League prices.
The cult of youth will mean Spurs will always have a young team rather than necessarily a good team. Buy good players and look at their age, nationality etc afterwards.

the buying of young, talented players is a good one on paper. We started this process a while ago now and we should see the fruits of this experiment any day now but alas we flogged the best ones and the others have either turned into a poor man's Nelly or worse lost all confidence and hardly been played. If we make this patrotic gesture then maybe we should see it through or abandon it.
