| Was it really 17 years ago? Check out the New Order video. Gazza looks so young, lively and enthusiastic. What a contrast to the pics of him we saw last week. Great song - great era.

| I was in Australia for Italia 90, lived a reverse life for a month, slept all day and watched footie all night - bloody marvellous until that painful loss in the semi-final, Waddle hitting the post and bloody penalty shoot-outs again. It's still raw even now, can't believe we lost. | |

| I watched it with my mates and when we lost on penalties we went to the park and sat silently on the swings for a few hours. So gutted. | |

| Was working in Brunei at the time. Stayed up most nights and still had to work during the day. The penalty shootout was a total nightmare. Felt really tearful most of the next day and cracked up when so many local colleagues and students came up to me to commiserate. It really should have ben an Italy - England final. That would have split my household seeing my dad's English and my mum's Italian | |

| Funny thing is that I really can't get as excited about the England team these days as I used to - why is that? | |

| Yeah me to. It's because club is now important than country. The WC's have lost all magic in my eyes. I'll still watch them though but when Engerland got knocked out the last one I was not arsed at all. Shame really. | |

| Probably not helped by the fact that we had a coach who'd made some of the most bizarre squad selections ever seen and that we knew we had not a dog's breath of a chance of getting anywhere near the final before a ball was kicked in anger. | |

| Great song, best World Cup for me ...
Also made me proud to see Spurs hero's Chris Waddle and especially Gary Lineker, playing such important roles. .. Lineker was top scorer if I remember correctly and MVP.
I know Wadle wasn't actually with us anymore at the time BUT... whatever Trevor, it's good enough for me ! !! | |

| yeah there is that. I loved the wor Bobbys England team but I recall that he was also given a torrid time by the press. Still, he didn't buckle of slag of the players with NOTW reporters. Oh, and he wasn't Svedish. | |
