Chelsea silent on Grant rumours
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp would not stand in Grant's way
Chelsea are remaining tight-lipped over speculation Portsmouth technical director Avram Grant is to join them.
The former Israeli national manager is reported to be in talks with Chelsea, with a view to taking office on 1 July.
A Chelsea spokesman said: "Avram Grant is an employee of another football club and, as such, we will not comment."
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has made it clear he would not stand in Grant's way, but nobody from Portsmouth was available for comment.
Grant was brought to Fratton Park by Portsmouth owner Alexandre Gaydamak to work alongside Redknapp in June 2006.
He guided Israel to the brink of World Cup qualification in 2006, finishing unbeaten in their group but behind France and Switzerland.
Grant, who has twice coach Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and Maccabi Haifa, joined Pompey when his contract with Israel expired.
The former Israel national coach is friendly with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and speculation surrounding Grant's arrival sparked a row with Blues boss Jose Mourinho in January.
Any differences appear to have been resolved with Grant to be given a wide-ranging role as director of football.
