Having read your post, I started worrying... Its not an easy way to play English "Fighting" football for Eastern European players. Hope Luka can make his way...

Not sure I'd include Paul Stewart in that group. He did start slowly, however most fans were sad to see him sold to Liverpool 2 years later. He We paid 1.7m and sold him for 2.2m to a bigger club. Didn't rock WHL but not a failure either.

I'd divide that lot up as follows:

Excellent - Gascoigne, Stewart (goal in FA Cup final and sold at a profit)
Good - Armstrong (62 goals in 173 games is pretty good), Popescu (played one season, scored a winner against the Goons and we made a profit when we sold him to Barca)
Average - Ferdinand (scored some goals but silly to spend 6m on a 30 year old), Durie (scored a few goals and we sold him to Rangers for about what we paid), Bent (got to give him a chance)
Ugly - Rebrov (Hoddle destroyed him and we lost 11m quid), Dumitrescu (didn't last a season, although we got 1m from West Ham for him)

The key point on a lot of these players is we spend big and got nothing back as a transfer fee in return!

Rebrov was a real shame, that boy had talent as far as I was concerned, Hod is a God, but the really fucked up there.

Armstrong suffered from the Klinsmann effect, and got a fair share of abuse from the Yids.

Paul Stewart, once he was moved to midfield or if you like attacking midfield his game came on leaps, hence the scousers buying him.

Biggest disappointment for me was Maradona, plays one game then fucks off
