| Sorry to bang on about my new TV, but it arrived yesterday and much to my excitement went up on the wall, looking all sparkly and new. After dinner Mrs Lineker and I settled down on the sofa, ready to enjoy the wonderful widescreen experience...
... 30mins later disaster struck. Mrs Lineker had a terrible headache, which she blames on the the new TV. Having been reluctant from the outset to spent this much money on the TV, this was a gift-wraped excuse for everything that is wrong with the world to now be my fault (I think I got the balme for the earthquake in China too). And much as it pains me to admit it, I too had sore eyes after watching the new idiot-box for more than 45 mins!
Advice Please: I'm sure that most people these days have big LCD TV's, did you experience the same sore eyes/headache thing at first? do you get used to it? is there anything you can do about it? Short of getting rid of it and getting an old fashioned one, which I don't want to do because it is so shiney and new and looks flash up on the wall!

| I'm no expert, but does the manual give some sort of indication of the optimum viewing distance? Alternatively could it be to do with the brightness, contrast, colours, etc? That's about as far as my advice can go, other than may be getting rid of the missus and keeping the telly. | |

| hmmm, read the manual eh? I am normally dead opposed to this sort of nerdishness, but I guess I'll give it a go. If that fails then I guess there is always plan B. | |

| Sounds like you may be too close Baz. It could also be that you're eyes are scanning a much bigger area than they are used to and doing a bit of OT. Give it a couple of days and see what it's like. Otherwise agree with the common sense. ...You've gotta rid of the missus. | |

| Thanks Chaps, I am considering trying the following options (in order):
1.) Watch more porn (where to buy in HK?) 2.) Knock through into the flat next door to move the sofa back (hope the neighbours don't mind) 3.) mastabating furiously for a week to see if my eyesight gets bad enough that I need the big TV (works well with option 1) 4.) get Mrs L to watch TV looking through the wrong end of some binoclulors 5.) If all else fails may have to trade either the TV in for a smaller one or Mrs L in for a younger one.
I'll let you know how I get on...

| I think you have to measure the distance that you sit from the TV. Its very technical these days - a far cry from a portable with an aerial in the top like these boys from Surrey use... | |
