Rumoured to be having a medical with us on Friday. Do you rate him?

He will be a good back-up. If we are serious enough for the top 4, he should not be seen as a starting player for us. Will Ramos want him in his fitness regime? He is so overweight?

F**k Me! he's the other one at the top of the red card list:

http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics/0,,12306,00.html

Is this how comolli is picking the players he wants? Why don't we just get Diouf and Savage and be done with it! (if this does happen, I'm off to watch softball or some shite instead)

I think Dunne has progressed into an excellent defender. I watched a bit of Man City last season and he was always good, especially in the games against Man Utd. If you rememebr when Pearce was there, they always had a good defensive record, just didn't score enough goals.

I think we shd sign him. He's 28, a captain and a seasoned international. I'd be happy to have him as 3rd centre half behind King and Woodgate, in which position he'd probably play 30 odd games because of their injuries.

Just depends on the money. He only has 1 year to go on his contract so I don't think we shd pay more than 4m for him.

Buy Dunne, sell one of Kaboul / Dawson and then both Rocha and Gardener. Then we have four good centre halves, players like Hudd and Zokora who can play there and youngsters like Dervitte and Archibald-Henville coming through.

yes - sell one of daws/kaboul - keep the other one as back up. first choice king and woody, dunne as first choice alternate. comical own goals yes, but how many games has he played where he has been the sole reason for keeping a clean sheet.

I'm sure that Mrs Dunne would be an imposing figure to have at centre back, nevertheless I still think that her son would be a better buy longer term.

People talk about the declining standards of English players due to influx of foreign players. ( i don't subscribe to it myself ).

However, English players continue to dominate in central defence. 3 of the big four employ an Englishman in central defence ( Terry, Ferdinand, Carragher), and there are many other good central halves out there such as Lescott, King, Woodgate, Brown, Campbell, etc.

We should sign Dunne at the right price as third choice centre half.

Yep, certainly looks like Dunne is signing. All the major English broadsheets running the story. He'll be a good squad signing. My preference would be to retain George Daws and lose Kaboul.

On a separate note, The Guardian reports that Spurs have "shaken hands" with Barce for the transfer of Dos Santos Shocked What a result that would be.

Yes, the broadsheets all running with it is usually a real sign that something is actually going on.

Still, it's unlike Spurs to let the media get holds of signing news before it's announced.

IMHO I think he will be a good signing, seen him play several times hard as f@ck, isn't he a good mate of Keano as well?

sums it up nicely for me...

Football FanCast columnist Davis Lowe reacts to the news that Spurs are lining up a move for Richard Dunne and feels that it will prove money very well spent, should the deal be confirmed.

If there is one thing that Spurs fans are only too aware of is that their backline is simply not good enough. With Ledley King forever struggling to find fitness, Kaboul failing to adapt and the worrying loss of form of Michael Dawson, you can forgive Juande Ramos for looking to bring in an established centre half to complement the impressive Jonathon Woodgate.

There have been many names that have been touted in the past weeks, from all corners of the globe, but the latest is a simply a few hundred miles up the motorway and for me the right player at the right price and will provide the perfect foil alongside Woody.

Richard Dunne has once again been in fabulous form at Eastlands and has been City's fans player of the year for the last three years. The Irishman has finally started to fulfil the potential to a career that was dogged with attitude and weight concerns and established himself as one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League. Dunne is finally starting to receive the necessary plaudits and you kind of sense that he is finally looking for his last big move.

It has been reported in the Guardian this morning that Spurs have seemingly won the race for his signature in a deal around £5m that must surely be considered daylight robbery in the current market. You wonder if Robbie Keane, a great friend of Dunne, may have been key to any such deal but one thing is for sure is that should Spurs seal the deal, it would prove a fabulous acquisition.

Good article Hairy. I guess "right player at the right price" sums up what we can reasonably expect from Dunne if/when we land him. I'm not sure being voted player of the year 4 seasons in a row is much of an acolade playing for Citeh though!

Having said that, I'm happy if he comes to WHL. Over the years we've certainly paid more money for a lot worse players - Vega, Richards immediately spring to mind (shudders at the memory).

Let's hope Lord Ramos can prevent Dunne from rooming with The Hudd. Room service bills may force the price of season tickets up again next season.
