| A customer in Thailand sent an e-mail asking if the latest iphone model(8 GB/16GB) is available in Hong Kong and at what price.
I know very little about these sort of things ? Can anyone assist ? Is it available ? I presume if he buys one in HK it is workable in Thailand ?

| I'm pretty sure it's available yes.
I'm fairly sure it'd be workable in Thailand too.
You'd probably want to contact an electronics shop to verify this info though.

| iPhone is not yet available here in HK through Apple nor through any mobile operator. And there is no plan to do so in the near future that I know of. However, all that could change with the launch of the 3G iPhone in USA and other selected global markets reported to be in June/July timeframe.
Your customer's best bet is to source an iPhone from the USA or European market. Get it unlocked in Thailand and then slip a Thai SIM card in. However, he will lose the warranty, no maintenace from Apple or his local operator.
Alternatively, wait for iPhone to be launced by one or more of the Thai mobile operators. But I've not heard of any plans for them to do so yet.

| Jezza, I am using an iphone for the past 6 months. Works fine in HK. The latest price is $4000 for 8GB (version 1.1.4). Not sure about the price for 16GB - should be around $4500-4700 in Mongkok. | |

Ezza, don't read.... - Spoiler:
I am using Peoples. $128 unlimited EDGE (GPRS). The good thing is you can access the internet wherever you are. I am happy with the speed of EDGE. If you use PCCW for WIFI, you can only access the internet at the designated hotsport (Starbucks etc). No way you can go on the internet if you are on a cab or MTR (unless you pay extra - which can be a lot!)
