MANCHESTER UNITED chief executive David Gill has admitted that the club are in the market for a new striker.

Gill's comments will re-open rumours linking Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov with a move to the Premiership champions.

Spurs have insisted on many times that their star striker is not for sale at any price, but Berbatov admitted last week that he would relish the chance of playing for United.

Gill told the Daily Express: "We've looked at it and if something comes along in another area, which is a striker, we'll see what happens.

"If anything does happen it will be in the striking department."
