| Yes, What's the Story? They are good I heard. You have to roll with it and although not Supersonic the actual airplanes are good (the won't Live Forever for sure but are fine) as long s they don't hit any wonderwalls you won't end up a champagne supernova in the sky. | |

| They're pretty good but if a plane packs up you WILL be delayed, they have no slack in the system at the moment - friends of ours ended up coming back ad ay late just last weekend. | |

| Paul - you super rich b**tard ! Ezza - pay attention. Daniel(s) + Twiglet - very clever. GDG - thanks for the sensible advice....which I'm about to ignore since I can probably afford to waste a day if the worst comes to worst. Conversation with the wife. Wife:" I dont want to spend too much in UK cos the exchange rate is really bad" Me" I know..... but we'll be at our parents most of the time...... will go up to London to watch Spurs v's Fulham and Reading though." Wife" Wahhhhhh. Last time we went to spurs we spent over $1k on ticket, journey, beer and dinner " . Me. " Mmmmm. That's true. Should I just get a ticket for myself then ? " Wife. " ...................no la. I want to go too ". | |

I do hope that was mostly on beer? Remember no solids on match day!

| I used them this summer, they were okayish. Not huge selection of movies on the way out and the inflight was broken on the way back, so I watched Aladdin and the map for the whole flight. Food was so-so, brekky was shite. By your own booze ,and it is expensive. Worst thing was that they land at Gatwick, which is frickin miles away from the M4 and home. | |

Gatwick is a huge plus point for me. My parent live about 20 minutes from Gatwick, 50 from Heathrow. CX are advising a similar price deal - Phone up....."return flights for 27th Dec - 8th Jan are fully booked". Okay.....why then bother advising the deal if it doesn't really exist,

| Normally better to do the deals on the net, Jez. We were in the middle of booking discount flights to Ho Chi Minh a few days ago and the offer disappeared. As we cursed and went back to the homepage, the icon for cheap flights popped up again and when we clicked on it we got two adult and three kids flights for $2500 cheaper than the offer we lost! Life's not all bad. | |

Actually, we did reserve flights with Oasis direct.
HCM eh ? I know that city very well. Usually go three times a year on business - have done so for the past 8 years. Where you staying ?

| I use to stay in the Duxton but only cos our agent had a decent rate and was close to their office.
Last trip ( June 07 ) I stayed at the Sheraton. Good location - decent enough pool. It's very central - walking distance to a number of restaurants. Expensive though.
How many days you staying in HCM ? You going somewhere else in Vietnam ?

| Four days, three nights. Flights work well so we arrive at lunchtime on the first day and leave early evening on the fourth. Not sure why I'm worrying baout hotels really, my wife will decide. | |

| Having flown with Oasis to UK I can strongly recommend them, especially for those living in S.E. England who benefit from flying to Gatwick. Leg room is superior to Virgin / B.A. ( 32" v's 30"/31" ) and not having the entertainment box directly under the seats, as opposed to CX, gives you a little extra space for those who want to stretch out. Entertainment was okay - films were about 6-12 months old. Departure times were on schedule. Food was below par, especially the return flight, when compared to normal fair paying airlines. Overall, I'd definitely use them again for any direct flights to UK. | |

| I cannot fly long haul on a budget. I start twitching like a French Football manager next to a playground. I'll pay the extra for peace of mind and a wing that isn't held on by sticky tape... | |

Dan - i had similar reservations but was assured by an ex CX pilot I know that Oasis are fine. All the planes were well maintained by Singapore or Nippon Air. Further more, they received their registration from the HK aviation authorities who have too much to lose ( ref CX ) if they are found to be giving licences out to anybody. Also they are given permission to fly over EU air space which does count for something.

| did it feel like a budget airline on board? I can tolerate it for a couple of hours but long haul is a killer. I speak as someone that flew to the US on Laker Air when you had to bring your own food and entertainment. Happy days... | |

| Not a bit. Even had own personal entertainment unit. More space than most regular airlines. Only 'budget' feel was no free alcohol and below par food on the return leg. | |

| I agree with Jez. I flew thm back to HK on Sunday, cost me 150 quid one way, taxes included. You have to pay for booze, food is OK (always go for the Chinese options) and the films are old (I watched Casino Royale) but the service is fine, the seats are fine and for that amount of money you can't complain. I think you can often get 2 for 1s on business class which work out around 700-800 quid return for one business class flight London to HK return. | |
