four sentences that destroy the honeymoon dreams of James. I had my honeymoon in Koh Samui which was great although I would have prefered a weekend in the Grand Hotel along Southends golden mile.

I've taken Daniel's advice - stay out of everything and just nod in agreement. I can blame her for messing up with the honeymoon. Eg "Told ya, we should have gone to Hainan Island!"

Wait till that baby arrives mate, you've a whole lot more being ordered around to get used to, only you have to factor in even more completely irrational mood swings.

Oooops, I thought it was a tentative yes, not a firm yes. In that case, it's great, the people are lovely, the French flair is everywhere to be seen, the beaches fantastic and it's cheap, dirt cheap. Can't wait to go back.

Or you could try The Seychelles, Mauritius, South Africa or even Far North Queensland - Hamilton Island, Port Douglas.

Started work at 7.00am today and still at school at 9.00pm. Finish work tomorrow at 10.00pm. School on Saturday and parent-teacher meeting on Sunday all day. Yes, it's tough but the holidays make up for it...... that is when we don't have to attend professional training sessions, get called in for extra classes and generally be at the beck and call of the Principal. Oh, and did I mention keeping 43 surly teenagers quiet for each and every lesson. Small size classes in Hong Kong - 38 is considered a small-sized class! Ah, 5 weeks till Christmas Very Happy

I've got 29 6 year olds in my class. The bonus of teaching the younger years is that the mummys are yummier and like coming in to help. As the kids get older so do the mums. Strange that. The kids are so young that you have to play games with them, like 'Hands up who'se got a big sister?' quickly followed by 'Hands up if you like sneaking into your sister's room and borrowing items of clothing?'.

Hmmm, as a new father I am slightly disturbed by what I have written.

Thank God I don't have kids in your class.
