| Strangely I am not a bit excited about the Euro 2008. Thanks Chris for putting up the prediction league to make it worth following. There is no 'star' team or star players in this one. All the teams are pretty even. Even the usual suspects such as Germany, France, Italy, Holland etc are not very strong. I reckon we may be in for some shock results. Maybe Switzerland can go far being the home country? Maybe one of Croatia, Greece (again), Turkey, Sweden etc can repeat what Greece did in 2004? I won't be surprised if the traditional big guns go out early in this tournament. | |

| I'm actually fairly excited about the Euro 2008, for the exact reasons you've stated, James! The fact that all the teams are so balanced, and anyone can win (in theory) makes it quite exciting really. There are no Trinidad & Tobagos/Saudia Arabias/Costa Ricas/Paraguays who are there just to get thrashed. Even the weakest team - Austria - will have to step-up a gear in front of a home crowd. Mind you it also helps that I have a vested interests in one of the teams (Austria) despite the fact that they'll PROBABLY get knocked straight out. But as Greece showed last time, Denmark in 1992 and Czech Rep. in 1996 you just never know. I also strongly disagree that there are no star players, to name but a few: Karim Benzema, Ribery, Gomis and Nasri Luka Modric Cristiano Ronaldo Zlatan Ibrahimovic Andrei Arshavin Mario Gomez Torres, Fabregas, Sergio Ramos - essentially the entire spanish team The exciting dutch midfield trio of: Sneijder, Robben and Van der Vaart. I could go on...

| Ditto.
Really looking forward to watching football and simply enjoying it from a neutral point of view.
Looking at the players on show, it should be excellent.

I could go on... ME2 Many names who're young but already a key player in both their club team or national team , can be found in those 16 countires squad list Fabregas , Ronaldo , Sergio Ramos , Berhami , Modric etc... For the upcoming stars. EURO 08 will be their first international tourament . Players like Moutinho , Velouso who hv already proved themselve in their domestic league and were interested by the big european club , could also drew our attention. The old generation like Zidane , Figo is gone and the begin of the new generation (Especially Portugal and Spain)
