| yeah, lots of press stories and Bruce quotes saying it's not done and dusted. 9 million sale of the century seems to be collapsing on us. | |

| Dont think the deal is done yet ... whats with these Egyptians.. they tend to blow their horn before the deals are completed.. first the muppet Mido was quoted saying that he is off to b'ham (without actually agreeing his personal terms) & now his partner in crime does the same
Birmingham deny Ghaly deal is done

Birmingham have played down reports that they have completed the signing of Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly.
The Egyptian international has been quoted claiming he has passed a medical and signed a contract with the midlands club.
Ghaly told Dream TV: 'I have put the finishing touches to the move and signed the contract.
'I passed the medical and will link up with my new Birmingham team-mates within the next couple of days.'
But a Blues spokesman said the deal was 'nowhere near' being finalised.
Blues boss Steve Bruce, who has brought in seven new faces already this summer, is still hopeful of signing Ghaly and his Spurs team-mate Mido.
Bruce has been linked with a move for Middlesbrough striker Yakubu should he fail to land Mido.

| Problem is West Ham agree to pay Bellamy + 70k per week so Mido feels cheated on 20k.
I'm amazed Spurs are able to maintain such a harmonious dressing room with a 45k per week ceiling. Several of our players could earn a lot more elsewhere.

| , wouldn't we still be better off selling Mido for 6Mil and subsidize his salary by say, 10k a week for the remaining 2 year term of his existing contract with Spurs ? | |

Hossam Ghaly will join Birmingham City on a permanent transfer, subject to the midfielder obtaining a work permit. Hossam joined us from Feyenoord in January 2006 and featured a number of times in our reserves’ title win in the 2005-06 season before making his first team breakthrough in 2006-07.
He registered 17 starts in the Premier League in his total of 34 appearances in 2006-07 and scored goals in three competitions – against Watford in the league, Chelsea in the FA Cup and Besiktas in the UEFA Cup.
We wish him all the best in the next stage of his career.

| I wish Ghaly all the best... will always be grateful for those goals against Che$Ki and Besiktas.
He's definately NOT a Right Midfielder though and too light to command the Central Midfield role in the Premier League...

| Let's hope he doesn't ram that back down our throats later this season. Now if we can just con them to buy Mido too, although apparently Boro are interested - mad! | |

| July 30, 2007 Birmingham complete deal for Spurs' Ghaly
Birmingham have completed the signing of midfielder Hossam Ghaly from Tottenham for £3million - subject to a successful application for a work permit.
The 25-year-old Egypt international has signed a three-year deal with the St Andrews club, with the option of a further two years.
He becomes Steve Bruce's eighth signing of the summer, following Blues' return to the Barclays Premier League.
The former Al-Ahly and Feyenoord player is best known as a defensive central midfielder, although he has also figured as a right full-back.
He joined Tottenham in January last year, going on to make 34 appearances for the north London side, scoring three goals.
Today's news brings to an end a saga which saw Ghaly claim on Sunday to have completed his move, although a Blues spokesman said the deal was 'nowhere near'' being finalised.
Ghaly was in Birmingham yesterday - but Bruce's hopes of persuading Mido, to join the club appear to have faltered.
The Blues boss yesterday admitted his chances of signing the striker, currently also at Tottenham, as 'less than 50-50.''
If the deal for the fellow Egypt international fails to come off, Bruce may step up his interest in Middlesbrough striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu - although the player's agent Barry Silkman believes the Nigerian would be out of Birmingham's price range at more than £10million.

| I was amused to see Steve Bruce say last week "I've just let Stephen Clemence go and, if Ghaly is as good as him, I'll be delighted". At least he's not expecting too much. | |

| Incidentally, if he rates Clemence, why did he sell him to Leicester? | |
