Defoe stays

THE NEWS OF THE WORLD is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has snubbed a £12million return to West Ham United.

Hammers boss Alan Curbishley was keen on bringing Defoe back to Upton Park after missing out on Everton striker Andy Johnson.

Defoe is reported to have told the Hammers that he has no interest in joining them and has also snubbed a move to Portsmouth.

A Tottenham insider said: "Jermain's just not interested.

"Remember, Spurs finished fifth and, with the right quality signings, could well break into the Champions League positions next season. Why would he want to walk away from that?"

Now that would be excellent news, he may not have had his best season last time out but he will always score goals. Get rid of fatty Mido though, he's bloody useless.

I like Defoe. Reckon he will come good next season.
