Want to play for Spursinhongkong?

James has managed to secure a pitch at Happy Valley on Saturday 23rd June, from 9.30 to 11pm. It's a seven-a-side pitch, so he's looking for about ten of us to sign up to make it worthwhile going. Why not have a game of footie instead of sinking a belly full of beer? In fact, you could still sink the belly full of beer afterwards!

I think he needs to confirm fairly quickly whether we want to go ahead so stick your name down here if you're interested. We already have James, Daniel, Danny Boy and me, so we need at least four and preferably six more people to commit - you know it makes sense.

All this shit is getting organised when I'm too busy, would love to join but think that the bar will be open then. If we're gonna try and start a team (5-a-side) let me know and I will sign up, pay up and try and get there when I can.

There you go - right click the picture, click on profile and copy the URL, then go to your profile on here and paste the URL into the avatar section and voila, you should have a Waddle mullet for your avatar.

It's looking good guys. We just need a couple more on our side.

What about the other team? I can invite some of my other teams, or if you prefer, we may invite the HKSpurs team to play.

It's astroturf but I recommend wearing your boots. This new astroturf is more like real grass than hard surfaced astroturf.

There are a lot of sport shops in Mongkok near the Mongkok Computer Centre. Just take the exit pointing to "Nelson Street" at the MTR.

In Wanchai, there is one or two on Wanchai Road, near the Emperor's Group Building and the Caltex gas station.

Can I play in trainers or do we need specialist footwear?

You CAN probably get away with trainers, but as above James recommends football boots and since Eric was mentioning shinpads probably he will be wearing boots too? I might pick up a cheap pair.

Well, I followed your suggestions and it didn't work, I use Firefox not IE though so that could explain some of it.

If you have the turning circle of the Ark Royal, as I do, I'm sure trainers will be fine.

Have you played on this pitch before GDG? Can someone who has give us a definitive answer on this, I dont fancy spunking money on footie boots needlessly. James seems to think it was worth it and GDG not. Has anyone played on it before

if its the new astro pitch, I've played on it. It got enough "grass" to take a full boot, and also works well with astro boots. It might be difficult to pull off a Ricky Villa in flat trainers.

I played on that pitch few times, and I do suggest you buy a pair of boots. BUT before that, can I assume that we will proceed with the match given that at least 5 or 6 of us have said yes? I'll need confirmation asap...

It's a yes from me.

I'd say it's a yes, James. I'm sure we can strong arm a few more in to playing once we're face-to-face with them tonight.
