ATHLETICO MADRID are said to be ready to announce next week that star striker Fernando Torres is up for sale.

The news is set to spark a transfer battle between Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United for the Spanish international who will cost around £15million.

Atletico have failed to qualify for European football for the upcoming season and expect to lose Torres who has scored 82 goals in 212 league games for the club.

The 23-year-old has been a long-term target of Martin Jol's and would provide a dream partnership with Dimitar Berbatov.

Thats a nice one to be linked with although its hard to see it with all those other clubs names mentioned being interested in him also. Goes back to the CL situation again. Out of those 4 I'd hazard a guess at the scousers getting him.

More lazy journalism. The top four plus us interested in a top striker? My nine year old could create a better story line than that.
