That is very interesting.

If you look at the fixture list, all our games from now to the end of the season are winnable, the only two tough ones being Scousers and Chelski at home.

I think the only things that might stop us pushing on for a top eight finish are the WAFFA Cup and injuries up front.

I know this friend well.

Very occasionally, he brings round a magnum of Dom Perignon '81, a pair of twin Russian ballerinas and the keys to his Ferrari. He did this for me on 23 January 2008.

However, you're correct, he normally vomits on the sofa, cops a feel of the wife and leaves the tap running in the bathroom, causing a flood the next morning.

This is not optimism.

this is, as Daniel would say, FACT.

FACT - 1 point difference to last year
FACT - pretty easy run-in
FACT - massive improvement in recent games, and under Ramos generally
FACT - teams have made up ground before (including us last season)

We won't finish 5th again, but we WILL close the gap and finish 6-8th.

Surely the points we are on are part of the equation ... we need to look at the split between the clubs above us compared to last year ... if they are all 10 points ahead of us then it's irrelevant how our current points compare to last year.

Actually Spoonyid, I reckon the gap last year isn't that relevant, because of the '6-pointers' - we have to play 5 of the 6 teams immediately above us. Plus, the teams are so bunched up - we either don't go up at all or close the gap and can finish anywhere in the also-rans mix.

More pertinent is to see what our final points haul needs to be.

So now we are only 1 point worse off than last year - great news!

if they win their game in hand then it will be a 8 point lead. Still, be nice to whittle it down further...
