| We have 4 subs already. It's seven-a-side. If we go up to 13 it means everyone only plays 50% of the time. We had this once before on the small pitch. It was rubbish.
Usually, someone drops out, so hopefully we can still get Hairy and Edman in.

| 50% of an hour and a half is 45 minutes. Thats an entire half of football which more than enough for our level of fitness. Plus no half time. Our players will drop like flies. Do the math Number 10. I would suggest a player for each position (except CK) like Sams Soldiers. They are very clever when it comes to their subs and seemingly the management hasn't learnt from previous outings.
Bring back GDG all is forgiven....

| sorry to gang up No 10 - more is always merrier as it is inevitable that someone (or several of us) with either get sick, be injured or some other excuse... if there are 20-30 yes's its a different story, but a couple extra shouldn't be an issue. I'd rather share my approx. 60min playing time with either Edman or Hairy (if everyone turned up) and share some banter (and hipflask) on the sidelines for the rest of the time, than these committed soldiers miss out. plus we got a goalie so only 3 subs. | |

| Also agree with having more subs. Don't think we have enough who can keep going for the full 90 mins to only have 3 subs. | |

| Also, Edman and Hairy are regular players, as Paul said, I'm more than happy to give up time on the pitch so that they can have a run out. | |

| It's rolling subs though! People who come off, normally come back on anyway. I'm with number10 on this one. We've never had more than 3 subs. I'm happy to stand by the group majority on this though, although Hairy is about as regular on the team as you Janek! | |

| Fair enough, people like you and No 10 have played every game and know how the set-up is, so if you want to go with fewer subs, that is fine by me. Personally, I'd prefer more people but I'm more than happy to go with the flow. I'll have played rugby earlier in the day so I might be one of the ones rolling off and on fairly regularly, depending on how many opposition players I manage to sit on. | |

Bring back GDG all is forgiven.... Poor old #10, Daniel seems to be having a go at everyone today (the DB dungeon closed for a disinfecting over the CNY?) I think that 3-4 subs in plenty in a 7-a-side game, however the watch-word as ever is compromise! And I for one am quite happy to stand on the side-lines for a half to make room for an old stalwart like Edman or Hairy! p.s. anyone got any Prozac for our esteemed founding father, just kidding; love yer work

I'll be around for the UEFA Cup game in the early hours of Friday and back for Final on the 24th.

| Guys, thanks for all your input on this. I'm happy to compromise.
Please note the point though that Danny and I are the people who arrange the team. It can be tricky with late arrivals and drop-outs. We generally always get to approx 3 subs, which is ideal. This always involves two days of chasing people up, mails, calls and texts.
The main aim has always been to have a bit of fun, and, as I mention, we've never turned people down before, but there does need to be a cut-off at some point. There was only one match (2nd game vs Sam's Soldiers) where we had too many ( about 15 for a 7-a-side I think) and it really ruined the game.
I suggest we add Edman to the list and take the 12 of us. No more additions. If any drop-outs, we won't replace them for the 16th.
I take the point that some people are happy to play 45 minutes. Others are not. We all know who would rather take a rest and who would rather play the whole time. So far, we've generally been able to suit all of us. Aiming for a sensible number of subs will maintain this.
As I also suggested, if we reach a situation where more want to play than we need, then we review the situation, and start a rotation. Though if we reach that level of interest, I suggest we book a regular pitch, as has been discussed in another thread.
So, squad is Full for 16/3: CK Danny, Dan, Janek, BarryLineker, Edman Paul, James10, Linesmann, Sam Craig, JamesY
Squad Full for 23/3: Jez Paul (50/50) Dan (unlikely) Craig Linesmann Danny Sam James10 JamesY Bennycat Edman Bennylee Hairy ?

| Dannyboy and No.10, thanks for organising! It is always tricky to organise teams - I know that when I organised the first ever match.
Regarding the number of players, I can see both sides of arguments. I am some sort of standing in the middle by suggesting we cap the number of players at around 12 or 13, so that people interested may join but we shall be prepared to rotate a bit. The idea of SIHKFC is playing football with fellow Spurs supporters and I personally do not mind sitting out for newer players to come in.

Not at all, Dan. Everyone's entitled to their opinion on this. Hopefully this thread has been a useful discussion, but we can certaintly talk further after the game this saturday. I try to make apoint of checking regularly with fellow players that everyone is happy with arrangements, especially achieving the right balance between involving all HK yiddos while being at least somewhat competitive.

'various reasons' sounds rubbish! What's going on?
We have enough if you pull out. Just means the likes of James and I will play the whole match.
