Here's my idea, tell me if it makes sense. ...

We get a broadband connection to THTV (a bluetooth laptop may also work) and just get a lead to a big screen.

If the theory is correct, then any place with a telphone line will do.

Sounds simple to me... Anyone among us with a more technical knowledge think I'm missing something




Otherwise... let's do it and watch Spurs lift their 1st Cup of the season ! !!!

Technically I think it's NOT legal, but the legalities on what's shown on a bar's screen mainly refer to what the 'bar' itself brodcasts in terms of promotions etc. on a regular basis and whether they had obtained the correct type of service from Now Broadband or Cable TV etc.

For a group of people with their own laptop and viewing on not such a loud screen (in size I mean), I doubt very much whether anyone will get prosecuted.

As for 'technically' on the telecoms side, yes I think it would work, but depends on a bar has their system set up.

I can make Friday, but it will probs be around 8:30/9ish as I have work drinks first I have to go to.

Am up for watching the SA final game, I think it will be on 9pm our time on Sat?

Does anyone have experience of hooking up a computer to a TV ?

We may need bluetooth also, depending on the availability of a land line broad-band connection.


I'm not sure we're gonna pull this one off in time.

using a standard PC monitor cable I have connected up my notebook to my plasma to watch streaming games over the web before (I also connect the sound output to my surround system)... shouldn't be a problem if the TV has a PC input and you are somewhere with an internet connection.

So, is there a concensus and a plan?
Are we meeting somewhere tonight, or what?

Assuming the worst, and a broadband connection is not available, bluetooth.

If this is going to happen, we need answers PRONTO !

I was thinking top floor McSorleys might not mind (we'll call in advance to make sure).. especialy as it has the privacy required, given our "illegal" operation.

i have a laptop but it contains all the website stuff on it and if i lost the consequences could be catastrophic for the whole of mankind.

I'm definitely up for meetign up for drinks and watchin the game. Unfortunately my laptop is very basic so not up to the job, as my desktop is my suped up computer

First night in for 6 days. Was out with customers and wife every night mid week, heavy one last night too so I'm happy to be having a relaxing evening at home.

Unfortunately the THTV feed is looking very unstable tonight.... well, the highlights of the Pirates game anyway ...
