| He would be a useful player to have, but haven't seen any mention of him moving to Spurs. | |

| Do I really have to explain? He meant to type perfect, but typed prefect, which I jumped upon quicker than a quick person could jump quickly on to something. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started this explanation... | |

| Despite having a few English teachers on this forum (Ian, Bennycat, Ozspur...etc), GDG is the ultimate Mr Dictionary. Think twice before posting! | |

| From Sky and Teamtalk, quote from Riquelme's agent Marcos Franchi:
"Despite that we haven't been told anything officially, we know that Villarreal has received a very important offer from Tottenham and that the president Fernando Roig is analysing it.They have to make a decision before August 31, otherwise Riquelme will stay at Villarreal as there aren't any other serious negotiations. If nothing new appears I think that they should accept this offer as it is good for the club and the player. I don't think that Riquelme would be useful for Villarreal without playing. It would be much more useful for them to sell him so they recover what they invested in him when they bought him."

| From skysports.com
Tottenham Hotspur are not the only English club interested in Juan Roman Riquelme, according to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague.
The Argentina international has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane but Balague warns that whoever captures his signing will have to cater for his needs.
"I believe he is in contact [with Spurs]," Balague told Sky Sports News, "and I also believe that Spurs are not the only club in England that is after Riquelme.
"He is a very special customer - you have to be sure he is happy. If that means he has to be surrounded by people who speak his language then so be it."
Having been at Villarreal for four seasons, the 29-year-old spent five months on loan to Boca Juniors at the end of last season. But Riquelme's future now remains elsewhere.
Balague also sees Riquelme's need to be the tactical focal point as a deciding factor between his next move being a success or not.
"He doesn't adapt that well with clubs that do not play for him," said Balague.
"While Villarreal played for him he was happy, but when they changed their system he wasn't, so he moved to Boca [Juniors].
"Boca don't want him anymore, so it is a huge gamble if anybody wants to take him to England."

| great player - but sounds like a headache - villareal and boca don't want him - hardly the type of player we want to be signing right now. we need harmony! | |

| the Argentina fans don't like him too. Allegedly slower than Huddlestone.
But who cares? He scores goals and he can take set pieces when Bale is not around.

| Sounds like a great addition to the squad, but in reality his best days are behind him, and the pace of the Premiership would pass him by. He was shocking against the Scum in the CL Semi Final in 2005, and he missed a penalty in the last minute to take the game to extra time. | |
