| From HoofHarted on COYS yesterday: - Quote :
- OK for all you doubters.
Darren Bent is Spurs
From the man himself, just got off the phone 2 minutes ago.
Don't expect an announcement from the club until July 1st.
The fee will not be announced but it is nowhere near what we offered Charlton for him last January.
BTW there is a real chance of further sanctions against Wet Spam .
Well that would be good news, but we still need to fix the leaky back four. And does this herald the departure of Defoe?

| After he turned down West Ham today its certainly increased the possibility. I still hope not for 17 million as the spammers offered though, having said that not sure how Charlton will accept less at this point. | |

| That's my concern. I'd honestly rather keep the 3 we have (sell Mido naturally) and give Barny a chance or buy some young relatively unknown but talented fella. Someone who doesnt reckon they've a god given right to be in the starting XI. Only Berba has that right. | |

| I think there are many doubters about the keano & defoe partnership working for spurs.. two relatively short players they are | |

| I'm not convinced about Defoe. Bent is a better player. | |

Yiddo or Yoda? Defoe at 7 million or Bent at 17 mil? Is he 10 million better?

| It'll be Berbatov and Keane as the first choice for sure. Reckon BMJ will look at resting the pair of them as much as possible so I reckon a Bent/Defoe backup partnership should work well. However, we really need to spend big on our defence more than anything else. | |

| Defoe will probably fetch more than 7m. The problem with Defoe is he only has two years left on his contract. Sign a new deal or..... | |

| I think if Defoe signs a new deal we wont buy Bent. If he doesnt though....
As Ozspur says really need the 17 million (!) that has been bandied about to be spent on defence and midfield. Bent is not needed if we keep Defoe. We have other priorities.

| I'll just back up what others are saying here - good addition to the squad but do we really need Bent and Defoe and at 17mill - phewey!! Thats a lot of dosh. And to be honest, I prefer it when we're competeing with the big 4 for a players signature as opposed to wet spam. If he's not interesting the big boys then that surely says something. Not that he's no good, they just wouldn't touch him with a bargepole for that kind of money. | |

| I'm worried that perhaps there has some been some bad news regarding Berbatov/Man Utd and it is in fact HE that will be replaced and not Jermaine. Although I'm praying this is just me being pessimistic. | |
