If the missus is interested, we may join you. I'll have a chat with her and see

Though I have a mate arriving from the uk, early evening, so will need to get back by about 6 or 7.

What time are you thinking of starting? Lunchtime?

Haven't discussed timing yet. However, if we're heading to Tai Long Wan we should depart from Sai Kung town around noon.

Aim to get back to Sai Kung at around 6pm. Seafood in the evening and maybe a cheeky stop off at Hebe ??

8 people and rising. John, you'd better bring a small triangular flag to wave in front of us.

I'd suggest to start early (e.g. 10:30 a.m.)
Take a bus (29R) from Sai Kung Town to Sai Wan (along High Island Reservior, frequency: 20-30 minutes);
Walk down to Ham Tin Wan and Tai Long Wan (the most beautiful beach in Hong Kong, and we may stay for a while);
Have lunch at a stall (instant noodle with sausage, ham & egg);
Walk to Chek Keng (via Tai Long Au);
Arrive Pak Tam Au and take No.94 back to Sai Kung Town.

I reckon it will take 5-6 hours to finish the trip.

10:30am might be a bit too early. I've got a family dinner on Saturday which is sure to end late. How about 11:30 from Sai Kung ?

5-6 hours will get us in to Sai Kung town about 6pm.

That said, if others favour an early kick off then I'll force myself up in time.

Sorry, I would prefer a slightly later start too as I've got an all-day junk party on the Saturday.

Apart from that plan sounds good. I know Ozspur had a route in mind, what was it John?

No 10 - wd be good to see you and the missus there.

Can't get to Sai Kung much before midday. There are a variety of possible routes including Hungs, the one Jezza spotted on his map (???), Mon's one and my one to Long Kei and onwards. All would be good...... well 3 of the 4 would be. Just depends whether Jez has the map the right way up this time. Let's meet for a quick bite in Sai Kung at midday, take a bus or share a cab to wherevere we decide and take it from there. As long as there's a chance to have a quick swim, all should be fine. Then it's seafood time in Sai Kung. Waddya reckon?

Hi, mates, that route and time is a suggestion only. I respect the majority decision. Very Happy

PostSubject: Re: Hike, 25 May   Hike, 25 May EmptySat May 24 2008, 13:05

Fellow hikers,

I've studied the map ! The starting point for all the suggested routes is the same ; Shelter above Sai Wan. The walk I was looking at is the almost entirely the same as Hung's. Several plus points with this route;

1). Plenty of other paths to choose from if the mood takes us.
2). Several alternative finishes if we're pushed for time or ahead of schedule. ( You can take a ferry by Sha Tau to Wong Shek Pier.

Shall we meet at 12:00 ? We should be able to arrive at Sai Wan shelter at 12:40pm - 45 min walk to beach. Those who want to splash about can do so while others, including Mon and I get a bowl of noodles in Sai Wan.

What da reckon ?

Ok, this is pretty embarrassing....first that i even realized that this section of the web site exists...perhaps I always saw Social Services in the past, didn't bother to read further and just assumed it was a chronicling of all of the good charitable deeds done by Daniel and the lads in the community...

...anyhow, would totally be up for a hike -- can't do tomorrow though since i have tennis and a BBQ already planned. Not sure that i can add much value to the pub quiz team (unless there is a healthy diet of American trivia from the '80s) but very much up for the drinking.

Done - meet in Sai Kung at midday. Noodles sounds fine as well as splashing about. Looking forward to it. Where exactly in Sai Kung shall we meet?

Only one slight concern....... Jezza looking at his map.
