| Robinson Asks Spurs For A Transfer England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has asked Tottenham Hotspur for a transfer after being dropped for last Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final against Arsenal. Paul Robinson wants to leave Tottenham, and manager Juande Ramos will not stand in his way. In fact Spurs are actively encouraging rival Premier League clubs to make them offers for the England goalkeeper. When he was appointed as Spurs manager in October, Ramos quickly identified goalkeeper as a problem position and determined to bring in a replacement for Robinson, the incumbent number one at at White Hart Lane, claims the Daily Mail. Ramos has replacements in mind, including Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg. He will also be monitoring Camerooon's Carlos Idriss Kameni (currently with Espanyol) at the African Cup of Nations. Robinson learned that he had been replaced by Radek Cerny for the semi-final against the Gunners when Ramos held a team meeting at 16.30 on Wednesday. The England shot-stopper brooded on the substitutes' bench for the duration of the match, and demanded a transfer during talks with Spurs officials on Thursday. Robinson had been dropped following Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Reading in the FA Cup last Saturday, but it is understood that his performance in the 6-4 win over the same opponents at White Hart Lane a week earlier had left Ramos particularly unimpressed. The former Sevilla boss apparently felt that three of Reading's four goals could have been prevented, says the Mail. He finally decided to drop Robinson when Stephen Hunt scored with a long-range free-kick last weekend that the goalkeeper caught but inadvertently carried over the line as he stepped backwards. That goal, and the indignity of being dropped, appear to have spelt the end of Robinson's Spurs career and cap a miserable 12 months for a goalkeeper who was previously so highly regarded for club and country. Perhaps a change of club will rebuild his confidence, restore his reputation and revive his flagging prospects. Meanwhile, buying a new goalkeeper is likely to the main bit of business conducted by Tottenham during the current transfer window. | |

| If this is true, Robbo's out of order. His form has been awful and he ought to have been dropped months ago. Now he is left out for one game and he reacts by demanding a transfer. Sooner he goes the better. | |

| Yeah, saw this article. Strange that it hasn't been picked up by any of the papers.
If his alleged tantrum at being dropped is true, followed by another tantrum demanding a transfer, then he deserves to be shipped out. I think we can all agree that he has been poor for the last year and a half, and despite hinting his form had turned the corner, he's put in a couple of shocking performances just prior to being dropped.

| I agree with Jezza - grow up Robbo!
He comes across as a down to earth northern bloke, but he simply cannot handle criticism. He never holds his hands up and says - that was my mistake - especially after his blunders:
Croatia game - "the ball bobbled"
Adebayor's headed equaliser at WHL this season - "i tried to make it difficult for him, there waas nothing else i could do"
Hunt's goal in the FA Cup - "it didn't go over the line"
Unfortunately I think it is time for Robbo to go. Shame as he'll probably play very well at another club, but it has gone sour at Spurs for him.

| Both the Independent and the Guardian are saying that we've offered Roboo to Boro as part of the Downing deal. | |
